HP Makes a Bid for the Hybrid Cloud Computing Market

The blade vendor is offering new services to aid enterprise customers develop hybrid cloud environments

HP has clearly decided to follow hardware sellers like IBM and Dell into cloud services for IT delivery. It will be unlocking new cloud products and services from its data centers in Tulsa, Okla. and Wynyard, England, for both businesses and governments with an emphasis on security, ease of deployment and built-in scaling. HP Enterprise Cloud Services Compute delivers "hybrid private cloud "by leveraging its BladeSystem converged infrastructure of servers, storage and network connectivity bundled together with automation software for management and governance . Security will be thrown in to provide isolated services in public clouds à la Amazon EC2 and enable connection with the user company's existing IT infrastructure.

HP is positioning its CloudSystem as an integration platform to build, manage and consume services across private, public and hybrid cloud environments. It comes with support for HP Cloud Maps which are preconfigured catalog objects that is programmed to auto provision applications to the designated server in the cloud. The cloud services will be made available in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, and Africa in February.
